About Inarte

A shop that started in a workshop

We are

Inarte

Inarte began with a woodworking floor and a simple frustration: the pieces we admired were never quite available, and the ones that were available were never quite right. So we started making some ourselves and finding the rest — buying directly from the potters, weavers and metalworkers whose work we already lived with.

Everything carries our name because we stand behind it, not because we pretended to make it. Where a piece came from a maker, we say so.

How we Choose Things

We buy in person wherever we can. We ask how a thing is made, what it is made of, and what happens to it after five years of use. If the answer is vague, we pass.

The result is a narrow catalogue that moves slowly. Collections open when a maker is ready and close when they stop. We would rather run out of something than replace it with a worse version of itself.

What we hold to

Six rules

Curation

Every piece is chosen by hand, one at a time. Nothing enters the catalogue because a category looked empty.

Direct sourcing

We buy from the workshop that made the piece, not from an agent or a trade fair floor.

Our own floor

Furniture is made on our own woodworking line in Mohali, so a detail can be changed rather than accepted.

Natural materials

Solid timber, stone, brass, clay and natural fibre. Materials that age instead of degrading.

Small runs

Pieces stay listed only while their maker is still making them. When a run ends, it ends.

Repair, not replace

Finishes we can restore and joinery that can be taken apart, so a piece outlives its first room.

Fewer things, chosen properly.

A room fills better over years than over a weekend. We are built for the first kind of customer.
